Tunbridge Wells Mela

Tunbridge Wells Mela

The Tunbridge Wells Mela has previously been held in Calverley Grounds, but this year was included into the “Weekend of Celebrations” in Dunorlan Park. The word Mela means gathering or fair, in Sanskrit (one of the scheduled languages of India) and is now used as the term for inter-cultural festivals covering music, dance and food.

Yet again it was a day of mixed weather, from hot sunshine to heavy rain and rainbows. A full afternoon of music on the stage, with the Olympic coverage shown on the big-screen-TV was complimented by a field full of food stalls and creative activities.

For those more inclined to shopping and bars, the Pantiles Vintage Fair ran for a second day, giving everyone in Tunbridge Wells a chance to get out and Celebrate.
