Looking like the path to nowhere, this area was landscaped last spring after the flats were completed, on a brown field site, next to Grosvenor and Hilbert Park. Today members of the Friends group, together with staff from Tunbridge Wells Museum and Arts Department, met “We Made That” the company who will be constructing a piece of artwork here.
The landscaping plan allows for the path to continue, via steps, down to the lake area. The “We Made That” sculpture is going to be made out of local sandstone, similar to that which was quarried here two hundred years ago. The so called “Civic Stop” will be constructed as steps, then, through community involvement, designs will be carved into the stone, leaving a lasting record of 2012. After all the enthusiasm for the painting on the railway bridge, we hope everyone is going to enjoy getting involved!
