Sandstone Rocks

Two local walks over the holiday show, top, natural sandstone rock out crops in Rusthall, and, bottom, man-made Pulhamite and sandstone rocks in Dunorlan Park. These were made by landscape designer Robert Marnock in Victorian times, to resemble the natural landscape. The information board by the waterfall says that Victorian visitors to the park were very enthusiastic about the waterfall, cascade effect which falls into a “glen”. Recent heavy rains have made the waterfall very impressive, and it’s interesting to see the cottages in Rusthall built around the rock, in contrast to the grand gardens of Dunorlan, which was originally a private house.
