I laughed as I typed ‘band-heats’ because heat wise, it’s been terrifically high this afternoon! However, I had enjoyed the mid-day in the sun, shopping at Tunbridge Wells Farmers Market, so quite happy to stroll through the shady Common to The Forum, and listen to the second half of the bands competing for a place in the Fusion final. I’d missed How’s Harry and Chameleon, and by the time I’d got a drink missed photographing Habit. Time though to see Pulse (top photo), Ricky and the Hats, and Jessica Johansson Band (bottom photo) – all of whom were contrasting styles. Between acts and soundchecks we were able to sit outside and enjoy the Forum garden, although hayfever seemed the downside of the fine weather to some. I’m gutted that we lacked Simon Cowell, but as The Alex Beharrell Band played, the judges chose two bands to go on to the next stage. Announced by organiser Dee Kirkwood, these were Chameleon and Ricky and the Hats.
The Gala Final is in October, and before that the Acoustic Acts will compete at The Wells Kitchen on Sunday 18th August.
